INJABULO ON AMAKHOSI FANS’ FACES
I am chuffed that both Njabulo Blom and Amakhosi have agreed to a deal in principle, as the Siya crew reported in last week’s edition of Soccer Laduma. Blom has been in superb form over the last three seasons and he’s proven his worth to us the Khosi Nation and the management, so it was imperative that the club offer him an improved deal. What stands out about Blom is his versatility and work rate. For the club to return to its erstwhile glory, we need players like Blom who are willing to die for the badge. I’m cognisant of the fact that he hasn’t signed yet, but I trust and believe that he will put pen to paper because he’s guaranteed game-time at Naturena. The news that Kaizer Chiefs and Njabulo Blom’s camp might reach a solution for the player’s contract extension at Naturena is welcome news indeed. As an Amakhosi supporter, I feel that this thing of underpaying the players who come from the development is just not on. If Cole Alexander and Phathutshedzo Nange are earning more than Blom, then that’s injustice in the worst form. The club must just do the right thing and give the boy what he deserves. The fact that the lad is managed by Rob Moore also doesn’t help matters, as that man doesn’t like Chiefs at all. So, if anybody at Naturena thinks they’ll have it easy when dealing with Rob Moore, they better think again. We’ve lost quality players before because of contract or money issues – i.e., Tefu Mashamaite and Reneilwe Letsholonyane (just giving an example with these two players) and we haven’t replaced them. It will take the Soweto giants years to get someone like Yeye or even Mashamaite himself. Players coming from development should be the pride of Chiefs. We don’t need our players wearing expensive Chiefs merchandise at the malls, yet earning peanuts at the end of the month. Mompati Panyaza Ndlovu, Lekubu Village, Zeerust
I don’t know whether it is a habit or what on the part of my favourite team Kaizer Chiefs because we always don’t care about our skilful players. I make this observation because this has happened before and it’s still happening. Why don’t they want to give our best player, Njabulo Blom, what he wants instead of losing him to our rivals? Take, for example, Siphiwe Tshabalala and Zitha Kwinika – these were our players from our academy, but we ended up buying them from other teams. On a different note, thank you to Soccer Laduma for Thato Khiba’s interview. He gave great answers to the questions he was asked, showing no grudge. Keep it up, my boy.
