Soccer Laduma

DO YOUR THING, MY EDITOR!

-

Greetings to the esteemed beloved Soccer Laduma family. It is gratifying to see this family grow in leaps and bounds and may the grace of our God see us through this year safely and in good health. Mr Editor, I’m at my wits end concerning the “cheating” scourge that’s bedevilling our football. I’m now appealing to you to tackle this malady. I know your pen has a potent effect. I have lamented this in the past and recently I heard Gavin Hunt mentioning it as well. The goalkeepers are deliberately slowing down play in the name of time management. I saw Kolak, the Galaxy goalkeeper, a foreigner who is supposedly here to improve our game, going down unchallenged in their game against Chiefs and the referee issued no yellow card for time-wasting. We the fans have returned in big numbers to the stadiums and frankly, we are being cheated off our hard-earned money. Can the players please give us the product we deserve? Mr Editor, please address this through the might of your pen. George Sithole, Honeydew

I would once again like to know had it been Orlando Pirates or Kaizer Chiefs who are entitled to this La Decima star, would they be begging for it like this? I doubt. Mr Editor, can you please talk to those in power and give us a clear answer as to what happened to the La Decima star story. Tshake Modiko, Mamahabane

CUT DOC SOME SLACK

Week in and week out in our lovely Soccer Laduma’s MAKE YOUR POINT page, I come across letters criticising Doctor Khumalo on what he writes in his column.

May I defend him by making two points. Firstly, the column is about him, hence he is duty bound to write about self. People should understand the nature of the column that it’s about the Doc brand. Secondly, we who have been watching football from the early ’90s know that what Mdokis is writing is a true picture of what he used to do. He was a darling of South African football, he did a lot for Bafana Bafana. The guy knew football, he achieved what he achieved on merit. By the way, I’m a Sundowns supporter.
