Pirates keep tabs on in-form Msimango

-

Orlando Pirates are widening their search for a top defender, with Siya sources revealing that they have added TS Galaxy’s Given Msimango to their radar.

Indications are that coach Jose Riveiro is looking to add more steel to his defensive structures, with the Soweto giants having already been linked to Marumo Gallants defender Ismael Olivier Toure. Msimango has now been identified as a potential target too.

At the end of last season, Msimango had been linked with a move to Kaizer Chiefs, but Galaxy were quick to secure the centre-back’s long-term future by extending his contract by three more years in June.

His latest deal will see the 25-year-old under contract until 2025.

And the highly-rated player has carried on from where he left off last campaign. He has been outstanding for the Rockets this season, having played every single minute of the team’s matches and leading by example as club captain.

It is believed that Galaxy would welcome offers for the player’s signature, though you can expect the club to place a hefty transfer fee on his signature. And with Bucs’ interest, don’t be surprised if the two sides do initiate talks.

“Orlando Pirates are monitoring Given Msimango and are showing interest in his services,” said a source.

Bucs did bolster their squad in January with the addition of the likes of Ndumiso Mabena, Craig Martin, Makhehleni Makhaula and Souaibou Marou, and are already planning for next season.
