Soccer Laduma

What are the facts?

Sukazi has previously stated that he would like to build the Galaxy brand and ensure that KwaNdebele is well-represented.

Similar to what AmaZulu FC are doing in KZN, Galaxy are working behind the scenes to take the brand to another level, but it’s coming at a cost without the support of lucrative sponsors coming on board.

At the moment, the club is without a headline sponsor and have in fact had to go without one since making their topflight debut. Their partners are Kiddocut, Aquelle and Sizzling Sport, but Soccer Laduma understands that they may not be receiving big financial cash benefits from these partnerships.

Another partner is Tim Sukazi Inc, a law firm founded by the chairman of the club. And the chairman has pumped a lot of his money into the club in an effort to take it to greater heights.

The club does get some support from the District Municipality, as it did when they travelled to Europe last year. The support, though, cannot cover all the costs incurred by the club.

With Sukazi determined to get the club to a level of some of the big guns in the country, the Rockets will no doubt need to attract more sponsors in the future to ensure they are able to stay afloat and not end up in the same situation as some of the other teams who have had to sell because they could no longer keep up with the financial demands of being in the topflight.

Galaxy is an ambitious club and have always included women, with their club previously competing in the Sasol Women’s League. The move up to the Hollywoodbets Super League is a positive one, but it will also come with some costs, especially considering that the club has brought in well-known players such as Mpumi Nyandeni, Mamello Makhabane and Busisiwe Ndimeni.

The Siya crew has been reliably informed that the players get paid, which is an extra cost for the club. It’s also been confirmed that clubs in the Hollywoodbets Super League get a monthly grant from SAFA, but that money is often used for transport and accommodation.
