Brazilians to rekindle Mabasa interest?

-

Despite having failed in their attempt to land Tshegofatso Mabasa at the start of the season,

Mamelodi Sundowns have rekindled their interest in the Orlando Pirates striker, the Siya Crew has learnt.

Mabasa was linked with Masandawana in the last transfer window, after spending the first half of the campaign on loan with Moroka Swallows. The Birds’ financial woes impacted the player, who was set to return to his parent club, but Sundowns expressed their interest, when they were going through a striking crisis at the time.

The Brazilians also lined up Percy Tau, Khanyisa Mayo, Fagrie Lakay and Lars Veldwijk as possible options, but it is understood that they were not willing to meet Pirates’ evaluation of the player.

The latest indications are that Sundowns are prepared to make yet another move for the player, with the circumstances swaying slightly in their favour.

Indications are that Pirates are prepared to talk to Sundowns over the possibility of signing the striker, with the player having entered the final year of his contract.

Information reaching the Siya

Crew is that Pirates exercised the two-year option on Mabasa’s contract last year, meaning his current deal will expire in June 2025.

The 27-year-old is currently on 13 goals in all competitions this season, spanning over his two spells with Pirates and Swallows.

Deals between Sundowns and Pirates have proven to be complicated over the years and when they do happen, are usually big. You can expect no different this time around,
