Here’s another image that’s just cute, cute, cute. I particularly like the gentle interaction between this inquisitive little calf and the older elephant that Janet has captured, so big and yet so gentle. The gorgeous golden light is so soft as this mother and child make their way to drink at Long Pool in Mana Pools, Zimbabwe. As a result, despite the calf being shadowed by the adult, every detail can be seen. This gentle wash of colour is often referred to as painting with light, and is a very good reason to take pictures at sunrise and sunset rather than in harsh, contrasty midday sun.
