Memories from a Lighthouse

South African Country Life - - Your Letters -

I found the Lighthouse 2 Lighthouse Ladies Walk article in the July issue most interesting. I come from a family of lighthouse keepers, from the years 1870 to 1974, including my granddad, father, uncle and myself.

I was born at Cape Agulhas Lighthouse in 1954 and my stillborn brother is buried at Danger Point Lighthouse (May, 1961). His grave can be seen near the house we lived in. I lead a group of older hikers, many of them strong, fit females, in George. I think they might find the lighthouse walk a nice challenge next year, if they can get in. Thank you for a lovely magazine. (edited)
