“Call me old school, but in the strangest places I have found my radar twitches when there’s a mu­seum nearby,” says Nancy Richards, who is work­ing on a book of tales that “South Africa grew up with”. And the mu­se­ums are not ur­ban, state-ofthe-art but hum­ble, owner-built, and lov­ingly cu­rated be­cause some­one cares. “I’m on a cru­sade to keep them alive,” she says. Her other pas­sion is to keep the planet alive and well. “Be­cause of tourism, not de­spite it.
