8 Western Cape Jordan Wine Estate Stellenbosch
When it comes to romantic stays, the luxury suites at Jordan tick every box. Parking next to our secluded suite, surrounded by lush gardens, we were greeted by the birds. Looking out onto vineyards and hills, the luxury suite is spacious and chic, with simple, clean decor, an extralength, king-size bed, a standalone bath, a fireplace and huge sofas on which to laze or watch TV. Stacking glass doors open onto a sheltered terrace with two comfy chairs, a table and a lounger – the perfect place to crack the ice-cold, complementary bottle of wine that we found in the fridge. Other details were a Nespresso maker and ‘real milk’; both, for me, indicators of the class of a place. A wine tasting and breakfast are included, but if you want to dine in your temporary home, there’s meal service from The Bakery. In-room spa treatments, a fine-dining restaurant (open Thursday to Saturday), romantic picnics, cellar tours and vineyard walks complete the list of spoils. Jordan also is a gateway to the superb mountain-bike trails of the Bottelary Hills Conservancy.
