Dressing tables for all spaces and tastes

1. Bring the outdoors in

This patio chair makes a contrast to the sleek, modern dressing table. The look is not too feminine, with foliage instead of f lowers and minimal clutter on the tabletop. There’s lots of storage space in the drawers, which is perfect for keeping cosmetics organised. Decor by Lindley & Co.

2. Go girly and glam

A French-style table, velvet-buttoned ottoman and classic mirror all make for a gorgeous make-up space, like this one by Bronwen Barnes Interiors. Keep the tabletop clutter to a minimum and add a vase of fresh f lowers to complete the look.

3. Mix and match textures

A natural wood dressing table gets a modern update with a transparent ghost chair. Bring in some shine with a silverframed mirror, just as homeowner Sally Ives of the Silk and Cotton Co. did here.

4. Add his and hers mirrors

Just as in an en suite bathroom, this dressing table by Lyrene Zimmerman of The Furniture Guild has two mirrors instead of one. It’s a great way to add more light to the room, particularly if the space is tight, and a stool takes up less space than a chair. Crystal drawer knobs and a tray of perfume bottles add glamour.

5. Use a plush chair

Go bold with a plush armchair as Kirsty Lindley of Lindley & Co did here. Add a slipcover and change it up according to the season or accessorise with a beautiful scatter. If you can add swivel wheels to the chair, even better.

6. Build it in

A dressing table needn’t be a separate piece of furniture. Many bedrooms have dead space next to the built-ins, so get your carpenter to add a tabletop and drawers. In this instance, the marble top was lit from below for a glam effect. Similar Onici Bianco marble is available from WOMAG.

7. Double duty

For her daughter’s bedroom, Angela Saffy of Versatile Interiors turned a black desk into a dressing table just by adding an ontrend round mirror. Clever storage works to keep cosmetics and stationery hidden away, while the striking lamp adds a contemporary touch.
