This sculp­ture by Mal­colm Solomon was cus­tom-made for the branch. “Af­ter walk­ing around the gar­den, I thought, if I was a leop­ard then that’s the spot I’d pick,” ex­plains Mal­colm. Re­turn­ing to his stu­dio with a mould, he made a copy so the bronze cast would fit per­fectly in its new home. “Plac­ing a sculp­ture in a tree may seem un­usual, but it can be par­tic­u­larly ef­fec­tive when used well,” ex­plains land­scape ar­chi­tect Arthur Men­nigke. “It draws the eye off the beds and up into the trees, en­cour­ag­ing you to view the gar­den as a whole.”
