A BRIEF HISTORY OF FRANKLIN MINT DOLLS
Franklin Mint began as a privately owned mint in Pennsylvania, which manufactured collectibles for more than five decades. The company started with items such as commemorative coins and medallions and then eventually began making dolls.
Franklin Mint also produced plates and jewellery featuring the Princess, but after her death, The Princess of Wales Memorial Fund refused to grant the company permission to use her image. After a long legal battle, in 2004 Franklin Mint ceased manufacturing these dolls.
Today, their celebrity dolls are still popular and feature icons such as Marilyn Monroe and Elizabeth Taylor.
