Ajax send Nale back to Amakhosi

- Nick Said

AJAX Cape Town have confirmed who is in – and who is out – as they begin preparations for the new season.

Although there could be further changes as the club negotiates with players, a picture is emerging of what the squad will look like for the new campaign.

On-loan left winger Abia Nale will return to Kaizer Chiefs after a mixed stay in the Mother City. He netted three times for the side and made just 10 league starts as injury and poor form disrupted his campaign.

The Urban Warriors have also confirmed that Brazilian youngster Wanderson is to be released after a disappointing campaign in Cape Town, while veteran goalkeeper Sander Westerveld’s contract has come to an end and he will be leaving Ikamva.

Nhlanhla Vilakazi signed a pre-contract with Maritzburg United in January and will complete that move in this transfer window. He will return to KwaZulu-Natal having previously been on the books of Golden Arrows.

Striker Alcardo van Graan, who has been on loan at Milano United for the second half of the season, will also be released despite having two years remaining on his contract.

Van Graan scored in a preseason friendly against Manchester United, but managed just one goal in his time at Milano – in a 4-1 Nedbank Cup loss to Bloemfontein Celtic.

Ajax chief executive George Comitis also told

Sowetan the club was unsure over returning loan players Cole Alexander (Chippa United), Andre Petim and Sici Shelembe (both Vasco da Gama). A decision will be made on their futures at a later stage.

One Player definitely returning is Nigerian striker George Akpabio, who finished with 13 goals in 21 appearances in all competitions this season while on loan at Vasco da Gama.

Defender Nathan Gertse will also return from a loan spell at Vasco, as will goalkeeper Kyle Peters.
