Ex-hubby seeks protection from ’abusive’ Sophie
‘ I WILL PRAY FOR HIM, HE NEEDS PEACE ’
SOPHIE Ndaba, who plays Queen Moroka in the soapie Generations, has been served with a protection order by her former husband and pastor Bishop Keith Harrington.
The document was filed on the grounds of domestic abuse. The order extends to the protection of Harrington and his six children, two of whom are over 18.
She was served with the order by an officer from the Brixton police station while at work at the SABC’s Henley Studios in Auckland Park, Johannesburg, where
Generations is filmed. Sowetan has seen the protection order which states: “Ms Sophie Ndaba continues to verbally and emotionally abuse me and my family using print, audio, visual and social media. Every time she is interviewed, she finds an opportunity to slander me and makes me look like a bad person to everyone in the country.
“Stories that have been circulating cause my children to be teased and insulted by fellow learners to a point where they don’t want to go to school. She has hired people in the past to hurt another ex-lover in Soweto, thus also causing me to fear for my life and those of my children.”
When Sowetan contacted Harrington, he said: “I filed the protection order for myself and my family. I don’t want to fight her. I’m only speaking because of my family’s advice.”
Ndaba responded: “I think this whole thing is stupid, it’s low and immature. I think he should get a life and move on. He should know that if you break up with someone, you should move on because life goes on. I will pray for him. He needs peace.
“I feel sorry for him. How do you as a man of God go and sabotage someone who did f***l to you?
“He should be a priest and role model to young boys who want to be pastors.”
Asked about his claim that she once hired people to hurt an ex-lover, Ndaba laughed it off and said: “Is that even a normal thing to say? Maybe it’s depression. Maybe the Move article made him angry because I said I had moved on.”
Ndaba and Harrington were briefly married after a surprise wedding at the end of 2011. The marriage lasted barely two months, and reports later revealed that the couple was never “legally married”. –
