BOT TLE-WIELDING MAN STABS 3 SISTERS

- Zama Mthethwa

THREE Vosloorus, Ekurhuleni, sisters were attacked with a beer bottle by a man known to them.

Two of the sisters are still in hospital after the attack at their home early on Monday. The Namo sisters, Tiisetso, 24, Tumi, 28, and Kgomotso, 23, were repeatedly stabbed by the assailant, who is allegedly no stranger to them.

Tiisetso and Tumi are still recovering from their wounds at Clinix Botshelong-Empilweni Private Hospital in Vosloorus.

Tumi sustained multiple stab wounds to her hands, shoulder, ear and arm.

She said she used to be friends with the assailant but stopped after she was allegedly threatened by the man’s ex-wife in February.

Tumi said the assailant was waiting for her inside their yard around 7am on Monday as she prepared to start her car to go to work.

“It happened around 7am when I went to start my car. When I saw the man in our yard, I screamed and called out Tiisetso’s name.

“While trying to run to Tiisetso’s bedroom, I tripped and fell, and that is when the man stabbed me,” she said.

Tiisetso said: “Tumi tried to run into the house but tripped and fell. That is when the man attacked her. I thought he was just beating her up, but realised he was stabbing her when I saw the beer bottle.”

Tiisetso was stabbed in the face and shoulders.

“When we tried to protect Tumi, the man stabbed us too. The neighbours heard us screaming and came to help,” Tiisetso said.

The sisters said the neighbours caught the man who had tried to get away.

The neighbours allegedly beat him up. The man was saved from serious injury by police who were patrolling the area. The police took him to Vosloorus police station.

Kgomotso said: “He stabbed me in the face and hand. I was discharged on Monday because I was not badly hurt.”

The sisters claim they do not know what caused the man to attack them.

Tiisetso said the man had come to their house on Saturday but the sisters had chased him away.

The sisters opened a case of attempted murder against the man at the local police station on Tuesday.

Police spokesman Captain Piet Rossouw said: “The accused has been charged with grievous bodily harm.

“He appeared in court on Monday and was given bail on condition he does not come near the sisters.

“The accused told us that he was an ex-boyfriend of one of the sisters.”
