Actors who are making good music too
THEY made it on TV and now they are also set to it in the music industry.
actor Kope Makgae, who plays Thapelo, and actor Anga Makubalo, who plays MJ, recently recorded a single together. The song is on Kope’s yet-to-be-titled album.
Makubalo, who is also known as Naakmusiq, is a budding musician.
Makgae, who goes by the stage name Tswyza, featured on Mzansi Magic’s as Gus. He has also worked in
and as well as made some commercials.
Tswyza says: “My music explores all genres through hiphop. I sample from everything. I’m a proud Sepedi rapper and entertainer. I love making music and acting.”
A musica, which fuses both genres, is what he would enjoy more, he says.
Another TV man who moonlights as a musician is eNCA sports anchor Sandile Ka-Nqose. The Cape-Flats native has been in the rap game for a decade and goes by the name of Seida Crook.
He has been heavy on the underground scene and now hopes to target the mainstream with his independent marketed and produced project. He is currently recording his first full-length album which comes
after a mix-tape titled
with Pretoria DJ BeatOven.
The recording for the album titled
is scheduled to be completed this weekend.
“I was influenced by the rappers I heard on radio. But I started taking rap seriously when I became the champion of Metro FM’s Saturday Night battles with Zack Dakile and Penny Lebyane a few years ago. I was the champ for eight weeks straight and guys would call from across the country and battle with me on radio,” Seida Crook says.
But sport is his first love, though.
“I love sport. I used to play several sports, including rugby for Western Province when I was younger,” he says.
Another multi-talented personality is actor and
presenter and singer Noluthando Meje. She has collaborated on a few songs with established house artists, but says she has a long way to go before releasing her debut album.
“I will not release an album just to say I have an album. I want to give people something I’m fully confident about, ” she says.
