TZOZO of Tzozo and Professor fame has bounced back after four years of silence.

His recording company, Kalawa Jazmee, released Tzozo’s long-awaited album titled

last week, and this could be another addition to the stable’s line-up of successful artists including Mafikizolo, Dr Malinga and DJ Zinhle.

The kwaito artist, whose real name is Thokozani Zulu, grew up in a child-headed household in Umgababa, KwaZulu-Natal.

Tzozo was orphaned at the age of 10 and says he has music to thank for opening up opportunities for him.

He took a break to concentrate on his business ventures and feels that the time is right now to get back into music as his events company business is stable.

In his new album Tzozo has roped in some of the country’s best maskandi and gospel artists.

Legends Phuzekhemisi and award-winning Ihhashi Elimhlophe are featured in two of his tracks. He also features his partner in crime, Professor, in one of the songs, while motivational speaker Sthembiso Zondo and gospel Group Avante, and Shabalala Rhythm are also featured in an offering that is trying to embrace different genres fused with Kwaito.

The song titled featuring Uhuru, is already on high rotation on radio stations and is fast gaining popularity.

“I have not only featured wellknown artists, but have given upand-coming artists such as GTI from Ntuzuma and Tukelano from KwaNdengezi, exposure, ” he says.

In his four-year break from making music, he says he nurtured various relationships with known and unknown artists who have contributed to his growth.

“This is exactly what this album is all about.”

The Durban kwaito musician launched his music career in 2004 when he first recorded through Kalawa with Professor. During that time he was also featured in a song called by Trompies and

by Brothers of Peace. He and Professor became household names when their hit

dominated the dance floor. Although he says the fouryear break has somehow delayed his success in music, he was happy to see Professor making it big and scooping awards.
