Mathale failed Limpopo
AFTER his resignation, former premier of Limpopo Cassel Mathale said: “This is to inform the public that I have handed in a letter of resignation as the premier of the Limpopo provincial government and as a member of the provincial legislature. This is in line with the decision of the ANC to recall me.”
The statement clearly has the tone of a comrade who was forced to jump ship.
And yet the ANC spin doctor, Jackson Mthembu, had the audacity of telling the nation that Mathale had left a “prosperous, thriving and a stable province”.
It is widely known that five provincial departments under Mathale were placed under administration.
In simple language, Mathale was no longer in charge of five departments in the province due to his ineffectiveness and inability to command sound administration in those departments.
Yet Mthembu used words such as “prosperous ” and “stable ” when referring to Mathale ’ s tenure.
The Oxford dictionary is not at all ambiguous when defining those words. I have yet to find an organisation that has dismissed a leader who has maintained a “prosperous, thriving and stable” environment.
So it can be deduced that all those former premiers, ministers, mayors and so on who were recalled by the ANC, were dismissed for no valid reason, which is not correct.
Mathale has dismally failed the residents of his province and the sole remedy was to dismiss him. In fact, his axing was delayed for no valid reason.
