DE HAAN ’ S BACK ... ONLY FOR CLINIC
Meulensteen other part of coaching combo
FORMER Ajax Cape Town coach Foppe de Haan returns next week to lead coaching clinics aimed at improving the knowledge of local tacticians and devised by current Fulham manager Rene Meulensteen.
The course is based on the training and coaching methods of Meulensteen and De Haan, with the latter in the country to present his philosophy first hand.
The Dutch Football Symposium has been organ- ised by former Ajax chief executive George Comitis and will take in four cities – Johannesburg, Durban, Cape Town and Polokwane – starting in Gauteng on Saturday.
“Being involved in football for some time now, we have recognised the lack of toplevel coaching courses for our South African coaches, both senior and youth coaches, in all regions,” Comitis said. “We have managed to put together a Dutch Soccer Symposium where the philosophies and training methods of two of the most prominent Dutch coaches will be presented both theoretically and practically. ”
De Haan led the Urban Warriors to second place in the Absa Premiership in the 2010-11 season.
Meulensteen took over at Fulham earlier this season, but was a member of Sir Alex Ferguson’s coaching staff at Manchester United for 11 years.
