AN INEXPERIENCED beauty from Montana in Pretoria has achieved a feat that even seasoned actresses sometimes find hard to crack.

On her first try, Molebogeng Maswabi, 25, got the lead role in a Christian movie titled that will be screened by one of the biggest cinema companies in the country.

The film features talents such as Jerry Mofokeng, Gabisile Connie Chiume, Mutodi Neshehe and Andile Mxakaza.

Maswabi only has experience as a TV presenter, having worked on a programme called on Soweto TV in 2012.

She took her passion for TV, people and the development of young women as part of the motivation for the role in the movie, which will be available for the public to view later this month.

“At the time, I had no acting experience whatsoever. Someone invited me to audition and I went to try my luck. I cracked it,” she says.

“I went through one phase of the auditions. It was for the same role that I got. I think I knew I could crack it, I do not know how to explain it but you know when you have that internal confirmation that ‘ I can do this ’.

Maswabi plays Naledi, a young woman who allows her need for money to sway her from the principles her mother raised her by.

The character comes from a background where her single-parent mother instilled good in her but she makes friends with a girl who is a dancer in a club at varsity and she is lured into the lifestyle.

Naledi eventually dies and finds herself in an outer-body situation where she is taken through her life choices.

The film tries to ask viewers “do you choose to dine with God or will you dine with the world?”

Maswabi declares herself a proud born-again Christian who loves the Lord.

Asked how she felt about working on she says: “I am grateful for the opportunity to share this kind of message.

“I think it is a project that has the potential to change the lives of young women in particular. I am excited as well to have my family and friends ’ support. ”

About her future as an actress she says: “If the opportunity were to present itself, I would do it. It depends on the character. It has to be something that would make me feel comfortable.

“I would be more interested in playing something meaningful … a character that would make some kind of positive impact or change in people ’ s lives.”

In the meantime, she is back working in the marketing and sales department of a pay TV company.
