Well done Amakhosi!

-

AS EXPECTED Kaizer Chiefs clinched the Premier Soccer League title on Wednesday night with three matches to spare.

Amakhosi were at their confident best, thumping the hapless Polokwane City 4-1 to win the championship for the second time in three years.

The atmosphere at the stadium was electric, with Chiefs celebrating amid a cacophony of cheering and clapping, and the blowing of vuvuzelas.

Winning the league title has secured the Phefeni Glamour Boys a ticket to the CAF Champions League.

We congratulate Amakhosi for their triumph, and hope they will be good ambassadors for South Africa in the Champions League.

Chiefs have been accused in the past of not taking the continental premier competition seriously, but we hope they will give their best in the next instalment of the showpiece.

There is no doubt that Chiefs have the arsenal in their armoury to conquer Africa, and all they need is the right attitude to do well on the continent.

It will also be vital for coach Stuart Baxter and the club management to hold on to the current players for the campaign.

These players are spirited after helping the club win the league, and surely they will want to do it again next season.

It makes sense to keep these players as most of them have tasted Champions League action this year, though Chiefs were booted out in the first leg.

We will throw our weight behind Chiefs in their continental safari as we always do with all the local clubs that compete in continental tournaments.

Orlando Pirates have shown us that the Champions League can be won and teams like Chiefs can take a leaf out of the Buccaneers ’ book. Good luck!
