AFTER working in the banking and industrial engineering industries, Mazibuko opened Ejimini, a fitness and wellness centre in Empangeni, KwaZulu-Natal, in 2008.

Starting her own business, she said, was more of a calling as Mazibuko sees herself as a social entrepreneur who is passionate about what people are thinking and feeling and believes she can incorporate this into her business.

Her intimate, community gym started out by occupying a small rented space and has grown exponentially.

Since it started, the gym ’ s membership has grown to 550 members and the facility can accommodate up to 180 people during peak hours.

The business is expanding by introducing a gym apparel range as well as protein shakes and smoothies in collaboration with a drinks ’ specialist.
