MUVHANGO actress Buhle Samuels is about to unleash her singing on unsuspecting fans.

The 25-year-old, popular for portraying Matshidiso Mofokeng, a man-eater from Thaba Nchu, Free State, in the SABC2 soapie, is also a SowetanLIVE Mzansi’s Sexiest celebrity of the year finalist.

“People know Matshidiso and not Buhle. Now, after almost two years of Matshidiso ’ s mayhem, it will be refreshing for people to know that Buhle is a full-on performer, ” she said.

Samuels said she was a musician and a dancer and looked forward to revealing her skills.

Although she was off screen for most of last month, she has been juggling her television work with music making. “I’m an entertainer. We are multifaceted human beings. Being someone else on television and a singer are different, but nothing is more important than the other, ” she said.

Her music is a fusion of R&B and pop, carefully blended by house music producer Magic Soul.

She will be working with long-time friend, Angolan producer The Fahrenheit, who produced AKA’s All Eyes on Me remix featuring Nigerian singer Burnaboy, Ghanaian Stonebwoy and Kenyan Redsan.

Samuels’s music is scheduled for release next year with singles before an album.

“I have been doing music way longer than I [have been playing] the character [Matshidiso on Muvhango]. It was just a matter of timing. I did not want to be running around all over the place. The timing is perfect now. I’m for quality over quantity,” said Samuels.

Her musical influences range from classical music to American pop and Angolan rhythm as well as soulful ballads. One of her goals is to break into the Angolan music scene.
