Schedule leaves AmaTuks in limbo
UNIVERSITY of Pretoria face having to stew over yet another setback for almost six weeks without any game unless the Premier Soccer League can rearrange a previously postponed match.
The ridiculousness of the situation goes even further with AmaTuks’ schedule reflecting just two matches in the next two months.
AmaTuks sit second from bottom in the Absa Premiership standings after defeat at the hands of Maritzburg United at home on Sunday that extended a run of winless matches in all competitions to eight.
They have just five points from nine matches after the weekend setback but now they won’t play again until December 20.
They were due to play Orlando Pirates in a fortnight, but that game was brought forward because of the Buccaneers’ participation in the African Confederation Cup.
There is just one more set of league matches, scheduled for November 21 and 22, before the league breaks to allow clubs to release players for the African Under23 Championship in Senegal.
It means that AmaTuks sit twiddling their thumbs until they host neighbours SuperSport United on the last day of action before the festive break.
But there are hopes that the PSL will reschedule the postponed match against Free State Stars.
Officials said there was a proposal to play the game on December 15.
