- Mcelwa Nchabeleng

IDAH Mmakuane Mohapi-Dipela will be remembered as a servant of God and a dedicated teacher.

Mohapi-Dipela, who was the elder sister of former PSL spokesman and general manager Andrew Dipela, will be buried in Polokwane tomorrow.

A devoted Christian, Mohapi-Dipela died last Friday after a long illness. She was aged 52.

She was a pastor at the Holy Jerusalem Church in Mpumalanga at the time of her death. She became a pastor after retiring early from teaching.

A first-born in a family of three children, Mohapi-Dipela was adored and respected by fellow teachers and pupils at Kwamanala High School in Allemansdrift C in the Nkangala region of Mpumalanga, where she taught for 20 years. A graduate of the now defunct KwaNdebele Teachers Training College, Mohapi-Dipela never changed schools.

The revered pastor did not only spread the word of God in Mpumalanga, but also had time to worship with people from her hometown of Seshego, Polokwane.

Remembering her sister yesterday, Andrew said she was a pillar of strength in the family.

“My sister was an inspiration to all of us, and we looked up to her for guidance. She never turned her back on us when we needed her,” he said.

“She was a loving, caring, respecting and knowledgeable person who taught us many things in life. She taught me to take education seriously and to fear God.

“The community respected her because she valued people – young and old. She also taught us to respect others and work hard in life. She was born to teach and spread the word of God.”

Mohapi-Dipela will be buried at Silicon Cemetery in Polokwane. A short service will be held at house number 292 Zone 1 in Seshego before the main service at Ngoako Ramatlhodi Recreation Centre at 7am. The procession will leave for the cemetery at 11am.

She is survived by daughter Paseka, mother and two siblings.
