- Munyadziwa Nemutudi

THE tragic death of social worker Livhuwani Phuluwa who was shot on Sunday has left an indelible mark in her community.

Phuluwa, 33, of Ngwenani Yaha Themeli outside Thohoyandou, Limpopo, studied for a BA degree in social work at the University of Venda. Her love for education saw her also study for a masters degree in administration

She started her journey into the field of social work by working in North West in 2009. She was later transferred to the department of social development in Limpopo as a foster care coordinator.

Her colleagues will remember her as a diligent team member and a hard worker.

“To me she was like a young sister and when the sad news came to me I was very hurt because of the way she had passed on.

“At first I thought it was a dream I will wake up from,” said Mutami Ramusetheli, who is also a social worker, in Musina.

Phuluwa will be missed by her children, parents and three siblings.

The funeral will be held tomorrow at Ngwenani ya ha Themeli at 6am.
