MOSIMANE REBUFFS R10m PRICE TAG FOR VILAKAZI

‘Not even Billiat is worth that’

- Tshepang Mailwane

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane says no player in the PSL is worth R10-million, not even one of the club’s primary targets Sibusiso Vilakazi.

Bidvest Wits are apparently willing to let Vilakazi go for a hefty price or an exchange involving both Anthony Laffor and Cuthbert Malajila, but Sundowns are unlikely to go for either option.

Mosimane, who has signed a new four-year contract with the league champions, says they have sorted out issues with Laffor after he turned up for training late following international duty and has confirmed that the Liberian will be staying despite interest from the Clever Boys.

“In my opinion, there is no player in the PSL who is worth more than R10-million, not even my own players, not even Khama (Billiat). We won’t pay that type of money. Who is worth R10-million?” quipped Mosimane, who was delighted to reveal that he has finally signed a new deal at Sundowns. “My future? I got the contract and I signed it and I delivered it. It’s a four-year contract. Contracts are nothing because how many coaches get sacked while they have contracts? I just had to have some clauses.”

The future of striker Leonardo Castro has not been resolved, but Mosimane has urged the player to be patient like he was. Castro has an option to extend on his contract, which is yet to be exercised. The Colombian, who did well to score 10 league goals in his first season last term, is keen to play in Europe.

“Leo is okay. He has got some issues, but you know the story. It’s business, but we will sort him out. We are well-looked after at Sundowns,” said Mosimane.

Sundowns beat Nigerians Enyimba 2-1 in the Champions League at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Wednesday, moving to the top of group B ahead of Zamalek. Castro and Wayne Arendse were on the

“We played well in patches,” said Mosimane after the match.

“Now we (Sundowns and Zamalek) have to team up against Enyimba. We need to keep them down there (at the bottom of the log).”

Mosimane, meanwhile, has registered fourth-choice goalkeeper Thela Ngobeni for the Champions League after Kennedy Mweene sustained a groin injury.
