TRAINER SEAN TARRY TO THE RESCUE

Step up in trip to suit filly

- RACING EDITOR

SO often this season trainer Sean Tarry has come to the rescue of punters and has had as many as 202 winners this season.

It is his two runners, Shah’s Storm and Silver Sage, who could provide punters with bankers for the exotics like the BiPot, Place Accumulator and Pick 6.

Ashaawes filly Shah’s Storm showed promise on debut last month when fourth behind Captured Quality over 1200m at this course. Stepping up to the 1400m of Race 1 at the Vaal today should suit Shah’s Storm and she could have the most ability in what appears to be a weak group of maidens.

If there are to be dangers to her it seems Featherflight, August Duke and Kings Landing could be the ones to look at.

Featherflight was not beaten too far in his first two starts and was expected to improve over the longer distance of his next two starts but that was not the case as Featherflight was well beaten.

This drop in distance could spark improvement in the Devin Little-trained runner.

August Duke is a lowly rated runner who has yet to get close to winning a race.

The wide draw will not make it easy for him but he could run well over this course and distance.

Kings Landing did not like the blinkers he wore last time out and is carded to run with them again but must be watched if they are taken off.

Silver Sage represents the Tarry yard in Race 3, a Maiden Plate over 1800m.

This Silvano gelding has only had the three starts to date and all of them were on the Polytrack at Greyville.

His form has been good on that surface and there is no real reason to suggest the turf will be any different so he looks the part over a course and distance that should suit.

Silver Sage does have the benefit of a good draw and will be ridden by Lyle Hewitson who has already disposed of his claiming allowance.

Together Forever, Wall Of Ice and Piper Arrow are the three dangers.

Three-year-old Bankable Teddy was an easy winner of the Derby Trial in March but has failed to repeat in his next three starts. He was not disgraced in both behind Rabada and Solid Speed in some decent feature races so should bounce back to winning ways by taking out Race 4, a MR 89 Handicap over 2000m.

Jockey Piere Strydom is a noticeable jockey booking for Bankable Teddy.

Rushmore River and Boy Boy both ran well in their last start and there was not much between them but neither has the scope of Bankable Teddy.
