SABC TO LOOK INTO METRO FM COMPLAINTS

- Karabo Disetlhe-Mtshayelo

THE under-fire SABC has assured Metro FM listeners that their complaints about the new mid-morning show, Whose

Show Is It Anyway, will be evaluated.

The 8-10AM show, which recently debuted and is presented by Ntombi Ngcobo, Khanyi Mbau and Somizi Mhlongo, has seen relentless bashing from Metro FM listeners on social media platforms.

Some fans have said on Twitter that Mhlongo is more suited for the graveyard shift, whereas some said the trio is too loud to be listened to in the morning.

Other fans even tweeted that they will be migrating to other radio stations.

SABC spokesman Kaizer Kganyago said management will have to look at exactly what is not working.

“The show has been on air for just one week, and I think most of the negative comments about the show have been emotional.

“Obviously management would have to do a thorough evaluation of exactly what it is about the show that is causing the outcry, but they cannot just base their findings only on the audience’s reaction. But we’re aware of the negative comments about the show.” Kganyago promised: “There will be many factors taken into consideration by management, including the public opinion that the show is too crowded.” However, he warned the SABC would need more scientific research into why the public feels the show is not working as well as evaluations of other factors. “A lot goes into making a show, and we feel that a week is not enough time to determine exactly what is not working,” he said. While Mhlongo and Ngcobo have been mum about the reaction, Mbau seems to be taking it in her stride. She tweeted that things will get better and promised they will improve. When Sowetan called her, Mbau referred questions about Metro FM to Kganyago, while Mhlongo said he did not take kindly to being called on weekends. Ngcobo did not respond to requests for comment.
