Derby attendants warned to behave

- Staff Reporter

KAIZER Chiefs and Orlando Pirates fans attending the Carling Black Label Cup on Saturday at FNB Stadium have been warned to be at their best behaviour or face arrest.

The tickets for the Soweto Derby have been sold out and Gauteng traffic police spokeswoman Busaphi Nxumalo says a big event of this nature is often marred by deaths related to drinking and driving.

Nxumalo said the cops will apply a no-nonsense approach in ensuring that fans are protected on the roads on match day. “You know, when we have big events more people are dying on our roads, and talking on behalf of Gauteng law-enforcement agencies, especially those that are dealing with traffic, we don’t want to see people dying on our roads.”

The gates will open at 11am and the game kicks off at 3.30pm.

Patrons are encouraged to purchase secure parking ranging between R40 and R330 through all Computicket retail outlets and on www.stadiummanagement.co.za.

Public transportation has also been made available through Metrorail, Top6 Taxis, KTK Shuttles and Rea Vaya buses.

Strict traffic control measures start from 7am in the precinct. The public should avoid the stadium precinct from 10am until 7pm.

Entertainers lined up include renowned local artist Professor, top DJs Sphectacula and Naves and the Soweto Dance Crew.
