DROVES of Gauteng wine lovers are expected to head off to the countrysid­e of Magaliesbe­rg on Sunday next week for the annual Cellar Rats Wine Festival, which will feature 600 different wines from the Cape.

The venue is The Old Mill, situated on the banks of the Magalies River.

Children’s entertainm­ent, music and food will be galore, according to the organisers.

Tickets cost R10 for kids and adults R260.

Designated drivers for guests enter free of charge.

Pick n Pay Good Food Studio hosts an intimate evening involving the tasting of awardwinni­ng wines in Sandton tonight.

Up for tasting will be wines from premier estates such as Jordan Wine Estate, Neil Ellis Wine Estate and Alto Rouge.

Cheese boards and canapés will be served. Tickets cost R150. Now in its 14th year, the Seductive Sauvignon Festival will serve up a feast of cabernet sauvignon and sauvignon blanc wines at a tasting at the Vineyard Hotel in Newlands, Cape Town, next week.

Guests will choose from more than 40 labels of the country’s top producers. Tickets cost R180. The three-day beer show, Johannesbu­rg Bierfest, takes place at the Silverstar Casino in Krugersdor­p next week from Friday to Sunday.

Festival goers are expected to pitch up all dolled up in German regalia for a day of fun involving dancing, eating eisbein and quaffing the frothy malt from big jugs.

Tickets cost between R125 and R875 a person.
