IT TOOK many years for Olebogeng Mosima to pick up the pieces of her life after her mother was killed by tile fitters she had hired to work in her house.

Tshepiso Aphane, 32, and Tsosoloso Marule, 29, were convicted of the murder of Mosima’s mother and robbery with aggravating circumstances in the Mahikeng High Court sitting in Moretele Magistrate’s Court yesterday.

They killed Seapei Rosina Mosima at her home in Temba in August 2011.

After the murder the two left the house and returned with a long base bakkie. They loaded Mosima’s household contents, including a lounge suite, foot massage, cellphones, television set and a microwave oven. The two pleaded guilty to the charges.

Mosima said she struggled to move on with her life.

“It was hard. I had just turned 21 and was still under my mother’s supervision. It was like being dropped in a sea and unable to swim,” she said.

She dropped out of university because she could not cope.

Mosima said she started finding her way in 2014 and started a manicure business. She said the business has since grown and she was ready to go back to studying.

“It was a long five years of trauma. It hit me that the only way to get the burden off was to forgive. I told myself that I forgave them and a huge load was lifted off my shoulders,” she said.

“The pain and tears do not stop. The fact that they were convicted do not change the way I feel,”.
