IT IS GOOD TO GIVE TO ALL TRUE MAN

Colt is Good To Give

- RACING EDITOR

GOOD To Give has shown he has ability and the four month break he had from May until now would have done him the world of good so race 7, a MR 78 Handicap over 1 200m on the Greyville Polytrack today looks his for the taking.

This Philanthropist colt was a solid winner on debut when beating subsequent winner Ocean Drive South over 1 000m on the grass at this track in March.

He returned to the course and was stepped up in trip to 1 200m a month later but found Caddy Master 0.75 lengths better.

Good To Give was a short-priced favourite and clearly more was expected of him that day.

He was not disgraced though and that winner does look a better than the average sort.

Blinkers were added to his equipment for the third run and it did not work as the Charles Laird-trained three-yearold was a well beaten fourth, six lengths behind Horse Guards.

Very promising apprentice Eric Ngwane will be aboard Good To Give and the 1.50kg allowance he gets is like gold in a handicap such as this and Good To Give is well enough drawn for his Polytrack debut.

The Weiho Marwing yard is doing well In KwaZulu-Natal and his charge Aramouse looked very unlucky not to win his latest when touched off by Big Si over 1400m on this surface.

The drop in distance will suit but he did pick up three points for that run and may not be as good a horse as his younger rival.

Var Du Bois has shown nice promise to date and would have needed his run in June so that run can safely be ignored.

This Var gelding has done very well on this surface but whether he is good enough to give 6.50kg to Good To Give is open to question.

The lucky last race does look open and a tough one to find a winner but it may pay to be with All True Man.

This Tiger Ridge gelding will need to overcome a wide draw and a long losing run on this surface but has always looked better than his bare form shows.

His drop in the merit rating could make him very competitive and a good last run when trying blinkers could spark a winning performance.

The best bet on this card could be the Alistair Gordon-trained Pitts Special in race 3, a Maiden Plate over 2 000m.

This AP Arrow showed very nice improvement when stepped up to this course and distance when a close up fourth behind Delilah.

The 4kg claiming apprentice Diego De Gouveia retains the ride on this four-year-old filly.
