Black Coffee says sorry
AKA’S ROAD MANAGER OPENS CASE
DJ BLACK Coffee faces an assault charge after he allegedly slapped AKA’s road manager Tshiamo Letshwene at the weekend.
But police could not immediately confirm last night if a case of assault has been opened against Black Coffee.
But Sowetan has reliably learned that Letshwene opened a case of assault at the Sandton police station on Sunday against the DJ.
The two were involved in an altercation in the early hours of Sunday at the DStv iRock Music Festival in Polokwane.
The clash was recorded on a video that went viral. In it, Black Coffee is seen arguing with two men and later landing a stinging
on Letshwene, sending his cap flying to the ground.
Ironically, yesterday, Letshwene’s camps issued a statement that they had accepted Black Coffee’s apology. Raphael Benza, of Vth Season Talent and Entertainment Marketing Agency, said Black Coffee’s management had expressed his regrets and apologised about the incident telephonically.
“Nathi (Black Coffee’s real name) will talk to Tshiamo directly to apologise. We won’t be pressing charges as Nathi seems sincere with his apology. There was some line-up changes that wasn’t communicated to Black Coffee’s team. I do believe that was his frustration,” Benza said.
“We are all moving forward to make South African music scene the biggest in the world. AKA and Black Coffee are two of the most popular African artists right now. Nothing is going to stop them.”
Attempts to get a comment from Black Coffee yesterday drew a blank.
