Banyana’s Group A foes

BANYANA Banyana will come up against familiar foes Zimbabwe in their opening match of the Women’s African Nations Cup that kick off in Cameroon tomorrow.

Here is the lowdown of SA’s Group A opponents:

Cameroon (3rd in CAF rankings; Fifa 47th)

Like Banyana, they will also be making their 11th appearance at the tournament. SA and Cameroon played against each other at the 2014 tournament with the Central Africans winning 1-0 in the group stage.

Zimbabwe (CAF 13; Fifa 94)

Zimbabwe will be making their fourth appearance, having last participated in 2004. Zimbabwe lost 3-0 to SA in Harare last week but they have been improving in recent years and even qualified for the Rio Olympics. Egypt (CAF 9; Fifa 80) The North Africans are the least experienced in the group as this will be their only second appearance. They last featured in 1998.
