Scott-Crossley’s parole was flawed
I AM truly sorry at what happened to Silence Mabunda at the hands of Mark Scott-Crossley.
Being run over deliberately by a former criminal can’t be fun. ScottCrossley should never have been released on parole.
His murder sentence should have never been reduced. Whoever presided over that parole case should be ashamed.
It’s impossible in South Africa’s farming community for a white boss to be intimidated by labourers.
It beats me how Scott-Crossley’s excuse that he was intimidated by two Mathebulas brothers, Richard (who’s now deceased) and Simon, to participate in the killing of Nelson Chisale, whose body they later fed to lions, was accepted.
The Scott-Crossley debacle proves just how flawed our parole system is. Scott-Crossley was an instigator in Chisale’s killing, finish and klaar. The Mathebulas paid the price for being poor labourers.
I guess Scott-Crossley’s name dropping, that he was persecuted like Jacob Zuma, did the trick. The justice system will owe Mabunda an explanation if he is permanently disabled and unable to work again.
The sad part is – just like Chisale – Mabunda is his family’s breadwinner. Scott-Crossley should still be in jail and the people who decided he was a parole candidate, let Mabunda down.
The reason for keeping violent offenders like Scott-Crossley behind bars is to ensure the safety of people like Mabunda.
I am still wondering what excuse will Scott-Crossley come up with this time.
Simon Mathebula was victimised twice. Firstly, he was forced by Scott-Crossley to participate in Chisale’s killing.
Secondly, he was sentenced as the instigator in a case which is rubbish as far as I’m concerned. I hope that this time they keep Scott-Crossley behind bars and eventually give him a sentence that fits people like him.
