Sukazi keen to face Safa charge
RENOWNED player agent Tim Sukazi has officially been charged by the SA Football Association (Safa) for comments he made recently.
Sukazi, who is also a club owner in the ABC Motsepe League, is charged for making suggestions that there were corrupt activities going on in the lower league. His club, TS Galaxy, compete in the Mpumalanga stream.
“I think officials at Safa have to come out and work on refereeing in the lower league. I’ve brought it to their attention, so much so that I’ve given them details. A club like Acornbush [United] in 14 or 15 games they were given about 14 penalties,” Sukazi told SABC.
Safa’s legal officer Tebogo Motlanthe confirmed the charge. “We have decided to charge Tim Sukazi. He will appear before the disciplinary committee on the 13th [of February].”
Sukazi has been charged with bringing the association into disrepute and breaching media policy. Sukazi has welcomed the charge because it gives him “an opportunity to finally be heard”.
“Well, we will face each other when we get to it. I received the letter on Wednesday and what I like about it is that it provides the opportunity to tackle the issue head-on because in the past I would write to the Safa chief executive about the issues of concern and you will get no response or whatever. Now at least this thing [the charge] will bring the matter to its head in my view,” Sukazi responded.
Meanwhile, Black Leopards boss David Thidiela, who is also facing similar charges for venting his anger on national radio over referees in the National First Division, had his hearing postponed last week.
