NEW reality television show
has received overwhelming reviews since its premiere this month.
On the first episode, six couples were matched with complete strangers to marry on the first day they met.
Pfarelo Nemavhada, who featured in last weekend’s episode, says being on the show has allowed him to learn more about himself.
“The show has given me the space and tools to learn about how to be in a relationship with someone, and it has opened me up to the many possibilities in life.”
Nemavhada, 26, is a systems engineer from Soweto and was married off to Tshepo Mabe, 27, a fellow engineer from Rustenburg in North West.
Nemavhada and Mabe now have the challenge of staying married for six weeks with the help of relationship experts from the show.
“In the beginning my family was very apprehensive about the idea of such an unconventional marriage. But with time my mom came around to the idea. Both my mom and dad have been very supportive,” he adds.
“I would say go into the experience with an open mind and give it a chance. Just remember, you aren’t in the experience alone, you need to always consider how your spouse is feeling.”
Lihle Buthelezi, 26, a personal assistant from Southgate, says she participated in the show to find a lifetime companion more than just being on the show.
“My family was initially shocked and interrogated me after the cameras were off, but they have been supportive and helped keep my sanity throughout,” she says.
Buthelezi was paired with Ferdinand Fester, 24, a blader from Germiston.
The show is broadcast every Friday evening on DStv channel 131. Woza Albert.
