Miheso escalates fight against Arrows
Kenyan players’ union lobbies Fifa to intervene
Ex-Golden Arrows midfielder Clifton Miheso has intensified his fight to get what he says is due to him from the club.
The Kenyan international left the team three months ago under controversial circumstances. His departure followed allegations he was forced to sign his termination letter at gunpoint six months into a twoyear contract, a claim denied vehemently by Arrows.
Miheso, who made the claims in January, soon left for his country and then moved to Zambia where he signed a contract with Buildicon FC.
Despite finding a new club, the player’s lawyer Elvis Majani will be seeking a transfer ban for Arrows from Fifa’s Dispute Resolution Chamber.
He is claiming $40 000 (R550 000) in unpaid wages including a signing-on-fee.
Players union Safpu has been vocal on the matter and went as far as picketing outside Safa offices in February when Fifa president Gianni Infantino paid the association a visit.
In his home country, Miheso can count on the support of Kenya Footballers Welfare Association (Kefwa), who told the Sowetan yesterday that they are working closely with Safpu. “There is money that has not been paid to the player and we have a lawyer who’s dealing with it,” said Kefwa.
Arrows chief executive Gordon Masondo said: “We have no comment.”
