Drink, but let’s all do so responsibly

-

The Easter holidays are here, schools are closed and people will be celebrating. Consumption of alcohol is imminent in times such as these.

Alcohol has been blamed for many ills. Yet, there are people who have been drinking for as long as they can remember, but they manage to stay out of trouble and live healthy.

We can’t help but admit that alcohol has bad consequences in most cases.

The effects of alcohol in the human body are mostly negative. We cannot allow children to get exposed to such. If you stay in denial as a parent, you will get a heart attack when your children do not turn out the way you had hoped.

All we can do now is advise them to abstain from alcohol until they are old enough to drink legally. If we fail to convince them, the next thing to do is to advice them to drink responsibly. Our children should learn to be responsible and accountable.

Liquor should not be used as an excuse to provoke other people, but for enjoyment or refreshment purposes.

The problem with many of us is we overdo things. Liquor has and must have limits. If you are a responsible person, you will know when to drink and when to stop.

Government has set in place a blood alcohol limit. But why do we want to drive after drinking? We can become better people if we do things responsibly and remember, too much of everything is always dangerous. Matlou Mokwele

Buffelshoek Jacob Zuma would have long been hanged or faced a firing squad if we were an Arabic country.

Apology or no apology, Zuma would have been called ‘the late’ by now. Even people who fed Zuma with intelligence would have faced the firing squad.

Let’s hope that those who gave Zuma the junk intelligence information are now jobless because they misled the country’s number one. But if they are still working at the State Security Agency (SSA), then our intelligence agency is like a junk newspaper. Zuma must not be forgiven for making the SSA a spaza security agency.
