Norma under fire for eNCA interview

- By Sibongile Mashaba

Minister of Finance Malusi Gigaba’s wife Norma came under fire yesterday from social network users after an interview about her life, love and money was aired.

Gigaba, who said she was an IT specialist, was attacked for saying she dealt with tenders in an interview with ENCA.

In the interview, she spoke about her chosen career and owning a company with clients that include Impala Platinum.

“... We bring IT in mining. We bring IT in aviation ... Also I deal with a lot of tenders. We put tenders together,” she said.

“If we lose the tender, we sit down with my team. I wanna know how did we lose the tender. If we win, how are we different from our competitors.”

Gigaba also spoke about the time when she received an email informing her about her husband’s alleged infidelity.

“When it came I only felt bad more for our parents than us because me and him, we are like buddies ...”

Social network users also questioned whether Gigaba got paid for work she did at Home Affairs after she revealed she felt like an employee there and “did people’s passports”. Her husband is former Home Affairs minister.

“We did the transformation of technology together. I wanted to help him because I felt there was long queues at Home Affairs and their system is very [s] low .”

Rasheed Adam Chemasinga wrote on Facebook: “Gigaba s wife norma says she deals with a lot of tenders. Who gives her? Rot of the anc.” (sic)

@TrevorMabasa: “This Norma Gigaba woman is just a trophy wife for the Minister... she's very shallow minded” (sic)
