Mutizwa aims very high

Arrows striker wants PSL’s golden boot

Golden Arrows striker Knox Mutizwa is a man on a mission.

The Zimbabwean says his short-term goal is to help Abafana Bes’thende finish in the top eight and it is not just all talk.

Mutizwa came off the bench to score the equaliser in the 1-1 draw against Kaizer Chiefs at FNB Stadium on Saturday.

“I was very happy to help my team get a point. It was such a good and important goal,” Mutizwa told Sowetan about the header in injury time.

The 23-year-old said he was closely watching the Chiefs defence while biding his time on the bench.

Mutizwa had replaced Lerato Lamola after the hour mark. He later cancelled out Ryan Moon’s opener for Chiefs.

“I saw the Chiefs defenders standing most of the time and my aim was to make them run,” he said.

The goal was Mutizwa’s fourth strike in 14 appearances in Arrows colours since he made the loan switch from Bidvest Wits in January.

“We have a chance of finishing in the top eight and I believe it will happen,” Mutizwa added.

His long-term aim is to become PSL’s top scorer and fol- low in the footsteps of Zimbabwean strikers such as Wilfred Mugeyi, Benjani Mwaruwari and Knowledge Musona.

Bulawayo-born Mutizwa is in the first season of his threeyear contract with Wits but Arrows are said to seek to retain him.
