High-profile women abusers a blight on our nation

August being Women’s Month, the last thing one expects to wake up to is news about another woman being abused, more especially when it’s done by those we look up to as our role models.

Reports about our Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Training Mduduzi Manana hitting a woman left us surprised and angry. Another act of abuse by soccer legend and analyst Marks Maponyane on his wife took most by surprise. Reports of Shaka Sisulu also being found on the wrong side of the law are also dishearten­ing.

I feel sorry for women in relationsh­ips with this kind of men. The best they can do is to report these cases to the authoritie­s. As men, we should stop this senseless behaviour.
