SA still has to address and resolve the land question in order to get lasting peace

-

The beginning of colonialism was in 1652 when Jan van Riebeeck reached our shores.

Africans were then subjected to subhuman conditions. Their land was brutally and forcefully taken away.

Thousands of people paid the supreme price when they resisted the brutalism of colonialism and apartheid.

After decades fighting a just war, we gained our freedom from the bondage of apartheid. The land issue has now become the new struggle.

This problem must be referred to the courts to decide whether our land was stolen or not.

Then we must debate how best the matter can be amicably resolved.

Apartheid agents who want to use the land question to stir trouble in our country must be arrested and subjected to the rule of law.

Arguing and political grandstanding are meant to thwart the real politics of this country, which is to debate the land question.

The land issue has to be addressed urgently and South African politics will have lasting peace when this is finally resolved.

The resolution of the land question will bring about peace and stability and hope for the future.

The land issue must be at the centre of our democracy.
