Ea Lla Koto architects of their own woes

Stars stumble again against lacklustre Chiefs

- By Tiyani wa ka Mabasa

Free State Stars are pleased with the point they picked up from their 1-1 draw against Kaizer Chiefs at the weekend, but there is still a lot of work to be done to get back on track.

Ea Lla Koto could have walked away with maximum points after taking the lead through Nhlanhla Vilakazi’s shot that deflected off Daniel Cardoso for an own goal, but they failed to protect their lead and Bernard Parker equalised. Both goals came in the second half. Being an away match for Luc Eymael’s boys, a draw wasn’t a bad result for Stars but the problem is that they have not won in their last four league matches, notching three draw sand as a loss. They will have to turn things around quickly to avoid relegation zone.

They were 10th at the time of writing. Eymael has to work on his team’s concentration. Stars were in the lead for just four minutes before Chiefs levelled matters.

Stars were on course for a home victory, scoring first against Chippa United. But three minutes later it was 1-1.

Stars will have to prove their mettle against four top sides before the end of the year with three of those matches on their home turf. They will be at home against Golden Arrows [December 6], followed by a Free State derby against Bloemfontein Celtic on December 10.

Stars will wrap up the year with home fixtures against SuperSport United [December 13] and Orlando Pirates three days later.
