Soapie star plays mom on and off set
Koetle’s role mirrors her daily life, thanks to script
Scandal! actress Mapaseka Koetle is enjoying motherhood both on and off the screen.
Koetle, who plays the role of Dintle, is a mother of a beautiful baby girl, Nema, who was born in September last year, while Dintle also has a baby girl named Motshabi in the story.
Koetle says she was fortunate that when she was pregnant producers decided to accommodate her in the Dintle storyline. However, in the soapie, Dintle’s pregnancy was more complicated and even divided the Nyathi family. When Dintle became pregnant with Quinton Nyathi’s baby, she was married to Mangaliso Nyathi.
Koetle says she finds it easy to deal with a baby on set because she is practising what she is doing at home.
“Even when I was going into labour on Scandal, that scene was convincing because I had gone through it.
“At the moment, I’m enjoying motherhood. I love seeing my baby waking up every morning with a smile on her face. It changes you, how you do things, because you are responsible for someone.”
Born in Bloemfontein, Koetle says it has been challenging sometimes to balance being an actor, wife and mother. She is currently a principal character, meaning that she shoots more scenes than others. The star is married to Nelson Nyokong, they tied the knot last year.
The 28-year-old says Dintle is going to show her true colours eventually.
“Dintle is very selfish and is forever thinking about herself.
“She loves money, especially the one that she did not have to work for. At this point, she just wants a sugar daddy who will marry her.”
