We all have a part to play in stopping spread of HIV
We all have a role to play in preventing and fighting HIV and Aids. HIV and Aids are real and cannot be ignored anymore. Statistics or figures show that thousands of people are on ant-retroviral treatment.
Those who ignore it do so at their own peril. Whether we like it or not, if you are not infected, you are affected.
One of the important questions each member of society should ask is what role do they play in preventing the spread of this pandemic? And if you have a business, what role does your business play on HIV/Aids.
HIV and Aids is a societal issue and if we want to prevent it, every one of us should participate either by knowing our status (testing), regular use of protection and abstaining from sex. We will never overcome the battle against HIV and Aids as long as we don’t take this issue seriously. We must all play a significant role by engaging our children, neighbours, colleagues and everybody about this. Parents should come on board and boldly talk about sex with their own children.
It is equally important that those who are HIV positive should regularly use protection; we cannot achieve our objective when HIV-positive people are having unprotected sex. I once came across someone who told me he was HIV positive and that, before he passes on, he wants to infect a number of women.
One of the important roles society can play is being supportive to every infected person, to stop discriminating, render awareness and voluntarily distribute condoms. Finally, we should all play a role in preventing HIV and Aids. Nothing is impossible, let’s get involved. Mogau Victor Sebatana Mahwelereng
