It’s okay, reshuffle butchered the captured

-

It is not all doom and gloom.

President Cyril Ramaphosa’s cabinet reshuffle delineates that he is promoting the party’s motto of “unity”.

Over a long period it has been evident that division exists in the ANC, so, the way the cabinet reshuffle was conducted can been seen as a way of trying to boost party unity and good governance.

I welcome the president’s attempt in “managing the situation”, which is trying to keep the party together, by keeping underperforming ministers such as Bathabile Dlamini, Nomvula Mokonyane and Malusi Gigaba.

A good political leader leads alongside a collective and at times has to tolerate colleagues that may not meet the standard. A wise leader knows that success is only achieved with the help of others.

We all know that genuine appreciation provides encouragement, confidence and builds strengths.

The president must have taken all these pointers into consideration.

Ramaphosa should be given a round of applause for getting rid of ministers who we have been complaining about for years now, for either being allegedly involved in corruption or whose names are mentioned in the State of Capture report.

Let us give the president room to enforce his plans. The true test to his juggling will be proven in the 2019 polls. Phumzile Malatswane
