The problems at Gauteng schools in general and at Eldorado Park schools in particular have been caused by Gauteng MEC for education Panyaza Lesufi and the South African Democratic Teachers Union (Sadtu).

Bully pupil is a disgrace

The pupil who threw the book at her teacher was defying the teacher’s instructio­n not to open the books. This says a lot about her ill-discipline yet her parents had the temerity to say she was provoked. What a shame.

Children in SA not safe

Children in SA are not safe, and the blame must be put squarely on the shoulders of government. SA somehow has this reluctance to be seen punishing crime harshly. This has given leeway to criminals – locals and foreigners – to wage terror on innocent people, including children.
