Samas welcome Team Mosha
Duo’s hot single earns nominations
Team Mosha is one of the new exciting additions to the SA Music Awards (Samas). The duo has risen through the ranks since the release of their hit single Sofa Silahlane.
This weekend, the pair of Mpho “Shuffle Muzik” Talana and Mantshane “Khumo MRD” Malala, will be standing shoulder to shoulder with the year’s music greats when they walk the Samas red carpet in Sun City as nominees in the best kwaito album and duo/group of the year categories.
Still on a high, the duo look forward with great anticipation.
“We are really humbled that when people mention big names such as Mafikizolo we will be in the same sentence with them. We have come a long way and we appreciate all the support and love we have received,” says Malala.
The two young men from Mamelodi surprised the music industry with Sofa Silahlane which turned them into household names and regulars on the concert circuit. In fact, the song became the festive season anthem.
They have only been making music together for less than a year, and their name comes from local slang “mosha”, which they say means to have a good time.
They are signed to local independent label Open Mic.
Lionel Jamela, marketing director and co-owner of Open Mic, enthused: “We are excited about the nominations because this is the first album to compete with giants on the duo/group of the year, to me a nomination is a win already.”
